Trevías and Brieves
We arrive to Trevías from the N-634 road. That is the most populous municipality city after Luarca, while the eastern head of the council. Its fairs and markets as well as the festival of San Miguel, have ancient prestige.
It preserved the church of San Miguel one of the oldest epigraphic plaques Asturias, which speaks of its founding at the dawn of the eleventh century, when according to legend, the nuns of the Convent of Trieves de Ayones took refuge in this place. Nothing remains of the original temple but this stone, but inside it contains interesting Baroque altarpiece, with carvings of great antiquity, and a tomb transitional Romanesque-Gothic, which, according to tradition holds the remains of one of the Counts of Gamones . The remarkable stone cross around the church is from the Eighteenth century (for visits is necessary to advise the parish priest).
At the same old story Trevías joins an impressive Esva River as the prime example. There is nothing better than an evening stroll by its banks, or an intense day of fishing in it, to have two of the best salmon wells, not just of the region but around the country: Chamberí and Piedra Blanca. An interesting adventure is descending from the mouth waters to the Cueva beach.
Although born in Luarca but with his family from Trevías, is the excellent film decorator Gil Parrondo whose work has been awarded with two Academy Awards in Hollywood. Figure out his name at known titles such as Doctor Zhivago, Nicholas and Alexandra or Patton.

We continued our route to Brieves at the N-634 road. Brieves is a famous town for its arches, high value items ethnographic which join the granaries with their houses. The prominent building is known as La Torre, dating back to the sixteenth century, which belonged to the family of Abella.
Brieves will be the starting point of one of the routes inside the council, which will begin on the AS-221 road, finding the idyllic valley of Paredes, considered as Exemplary Town in the awards from the Prince of Asturias in 2001 by their neighbourhood solidarity and the preservation and protection of cultural heritage, ethnographic and natural.
Located in the wide open river valley of Esva, Trevías is divided in two defined zones: the modern, on both sides of the road, and the old, around the church of San Miguel.
