Cadavedo
Cadavedo is one of the oldest villages of the council, standing here Vallenerán, a medieval whaling port.. Among its streets contrasted small houses with garden and barn, with the colourful houses of Indians, as Villa Hilda, or Los gemelos de los Pérez.
Cadavedo was declared as the prettiest village in Asturias in 1954. The merits that led to the granting of such award are clearly evident.
A pleasant walk will lead us to the promontory called de La Atalaya, also known as Campo de la Garita. There, perched on steep cliffs and the beach of La Riberona, amid on a spectacular panoramic view, is a small hermitage which houses the highly venerated statue of the Virgin of La Regla-La Regalina, in whose honor is held an extraordinary party on the last Sunday of August. This medieval fair was recovered by the poet, historian, archaeologist, linguist and local folklorist Galo Fernandez, who signed his works with the name of Fernán Coronas, whose house has been renovated to house a library. The library contains books in Castilian and Bable likely and a workshop of traditional clothing.
