Mesa de Mareantes
This site was made between 1955 and 1959 on the ruins of an ancient fortress of the XVI century in which was built a stretch of battlement.
The monument consists of a board table, behind which there is a large semicircular panel, made by the Asturian sculptor and painter Goico Aguirre, closely linked to Luarca, who staged a meeting of skippers of the fifteenth century.
In the painting of the wall are located 14 ceramic panels from Talavera, made from watercolours of Alfau Gerardo Ortiz, narrating historical events and legendary stories of the town of Luarca since the ninth century to the nineteenth.
The set is completed with engraved verses of the poet José María Uncal which evoke the memory of the victims of the sea and a cannon and an anchor.
