The lighthouse of Luarca is located in La Atalaya, in the end Focicón, closing the inlet port from the east, about three hundred meters from the town. |

This site was made between 1955 and 1959 on the ruins of an ancient fortress of the XVI century in which was built a stretch of battlement.

Luarca has a rich architectural. Among the town, the most outstanding buildings is the Palacio del Marqués de Ferrera, partly built in the thirteenth century, or the City Hall. |

It is situated on a promontory which served as defensive bulwark against attacks from the sea, according to Don JE Casariego could have been built in the thirteenth century, but underwent several renovations in later centuries.
