Sport Restaurant

If we take into consideration the fact that the proprietors are the owners of one of the most important shellfish stock ponds in the Bay of Biscay, we will get an idea of the set up (they have, in fact, opened a small annexe selling shellfish to take away). But the Sport Restaurant is more than that, much more. Above all since they fully refurbished the place, transforming the premises into two elegant, comfortable dining rooms from which the quaint fishermen's houses of Luarca can be seen while enjoying that terrific lobster that one of these may have fished the day before. The Menéndez sister and brother duo, Mayte and Juan Carlos, will recommend what fish is in optimum conditions on the day, for their mother, Pilar, to then cook for us in on of those seafood dishes that only home cooking knows how to get the most out of so we fill ourselves up dipping bread in the sauce. Special mention must be made of their unmatchable hake pie, a titbit that many of us make the journey to Luarca for and that we almost value more than the wide repertory of seafood that has made this restaurant famous. |
