Located on the western coast of Asturias, his 352.63 km2, making it one of the largest councils in the region.

Sea, river and mountain: three words and three symbols that define the very old and noble council Valdés. This is a land of contrasts, with its varied geography and lifestyles. Few places in Asturias can recreate visitor with an ever-changing beauty landscape, and in this natural charm, combined with the traditional hospitality of its people and an open and livelyenvironment, have become Valdés -and Luarca, his capital-in a unique tourist enclave, whose fame and prestige transcends beyond its own Asturias borders.

Distributed in 15 parishes territory, home to a population of around 17,000 inhabitants, lies between Cape and Barayorivers, which delimited by the coast and penetrating inland to Tineo and Villayón, councils with sharedhigh areas,    “vaqueiros de alzada” traditional room, human group owners of an ancient culture and folklore.
